 He was the former Chairman of Richard Peris Arpico Finance & Group Director of Richard Peris & Co. Liyanage holds a Bachelor of Science (Bsc) degree from the University of Colombo and two postgraduate degrees ; Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (Dip.M, from Charted Institute of Marketing UK) and MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayawardhanapura. He is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) from CMA (Australia).

He is also a fellow of the Life Underwriting Training Council of USA and a resource person for MBA programs for several Global Universities.

He has been awarded with many Global and Local accolades; Asian Brand Leadership Award from Brand Asia Congress, “Marketer of the Year” Award from the world’s largest professional body for marketing – the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, Global Brand Leadership Award from Global Brand Congress and  “Brand Champion” Awards from Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing.  He has been instrumental in directing many organisations winning local and global recognition.

A distinguished old boy of Isipathana College Colombo who excelled in rugby football and captained both the Colombo University and Sri Lanka National University team, and, represented CR&FC.
